6 Craft Ideas To Do With Pokémon Coloring Pages

1. Make Original Paper Pokémon Puppets

  • Discuss Traits: Start by discussing the traits of different Pokémon characters. Have each child pick a Pokémon coloring page of a character they feel a connection with.
  • Color and Cut: Have the youngsters color and cut out the Pokémon figures and some other Pokémon side characters.
  • Laminate: Seal the cutouts in contact paper or glassine for durability.
  • Attach to Sticks: Using craft sticks or popsicle sticks, cut out and attach the Pokémon characters to the tops of the sticks using child-safe glue.
  • Puppet Play: Now the children are ready to put on Pokémon plays, using the traits they discussed.

2. Pokémon Book Markers

  • Color and Cut: Have children color a character using the Pokémon coloring pages and cut it out.
  • Measure and Glue: Glue the colored Pokémon character to a pre-cut poster board or thin cardboard (suggested size: 2×6 inches).
  • Add Features: Bend the arms a bit away from the body for pliability. Decorate with puffy red paint and black pom-poms.
  • Seal and Use: Spray with acrylic spray or seal in contact paper. The arms can be bent down to mark the pages of a book.

3. Pokémon and Pikachu Pen Holders

  • Color and Discuss: Start by coloring a page featuring a Pokémon. Discuss the importance of recycling while using empty bathroom tissue rolls, or glass jars.
  • Cut and Glue: Cut out the characters on the Pokémon coloring pages and glue them to the fronts of the rolls or glass jars.
  • Decorate: If you used rolls, attach the rolls together using tape. Use colored pom-poms for a border.
  • Label: Use puffy paint to label the ensemble “Pens and Pencils.”

4. Pokémon Party Bags

  • Distribute Materials: Provide each child with a plain party favor bag and a Pokémon coloring page.
  • Decorate Bags: Children can decorate the bags using cutouts from the Pokémon coloring pages.
  • Embellish: Use black felt for ears, black buttons for eyes, and puffy red paint for cheeks. Add a mouth with glitter or paint.
  • Trade Game: Allow children to trade bags based on their favorite features, promoting social interaction.

5. Pokémon Pyramid

  • Color and Cut: Give each child a Pokémon coloring page to color. Have them cut the page into a triangle. Roughly half of the triangles need a base at the top, and half need a base at the bottom so they can be tessellated.
  • Build a Pyramid: Arrange and glue the triangles on a large sheet of paper in a pyramid shape.
  • Discuss Geometry: Teach basic concepts about shapes and how they fit together while arranging the pyramid.

6. Pokémon Coloring Page Bunting

  • Prepare Pages: Use a ruler to find the middle of the bottom of the Pokémon coloring pages and draw lines to the top corners to create a triangle.
  • Color and Cut: Have the children color and cut their pages into triangles.
  • Arrange on String: Lay a long string flat and arrange the triangle pages along it, measuring for even spacing.
  • Attach: Use tape or a stapler to secure each triangle to the string by the top edge.
  • Hang: Display the Pokémon bunting in the classroom or at home for decoration.
